There has been a significant increase in the number of business travelers choosing Uber over cabs.
In her article, “Uber Use Surges Among Business Travelers,” Sara Ashley O’Brien of CNN Money describes how workers are moving away from traditional modes of travel and gravitating towards the new ride sharing economy. Professionals on the go prefer Uber over cabs and rental cars.
Certify, a travel and expense firm, analyzed 8 million transactions across North America from April through June of this year. Uber experienced an 18 percent increase from last year, accounting for 55 percent of all rides. Cab rides made up 43 percent, and Lyft rides were a mere 1 percent. The change may be a result of companies recognizing the cost-saving benefits that result from the use of private services such as Uber and Airbnb.
With so many new and often more affordable options, startup companies and the shared economy industry are changing how people travel and sleep.
