We are all familiar with Campbell’s Soup. It’s been a staple in pantries all over the world for over 100 years. Recently at the Consumer Electronic Show in Las Vegas, the popular soup brand announced a new campaign that allows mobile app developers to “Hack the Kitchen.”
Developers have been invited to compete in creating an app for sharing and browsing recipes. According to Kate Freeman’s article, “Campbell’s Soup Invites Developers to Hack the Kitchen,” Campbell’s Soup is hoping to “make people’s live easier when it comes to finding recipes and cooking.” The campaign couldn’t come at a more perfect time. More consumers are using smartphones and tablets to browse social media apps for recipes than ever before. Developers are not required to include Campbell’s products in their app. A successful app could be a great opportunity for Campbell’s to advertise to their target market.
The Campbell’s Soup app could bring in recipe pinners from other apps. What are some of the important features this app must have for you to use it?

The company is inviting developers to “Hack the Kitchen” and create web or mobile apps that make people’s lives easier when it comes to finding recipes and cooking. The contest begins on Monday, Jan. 14th and the deadline to submit entries is February 1st.
“The solution can be a web experience, mobile app, something for the XBOX or even an in-car app experience that leverages the new SDKs announced atCES,” Adam Kmiec, director of global digital marketing and social media at Campbell Soup Company, told Mashable. “We haven’t set a requirement; it’s a blank canvas. We know that consumers are looking for ways to answer the question, ‘What’s for dinner?’ and we’ve developed our own API to help guide the development process.”
