The Election is coming! The presidential election is less than two months away and the buzz is rapidly growing. People are chatting about the candidates and issues across social media networks, providing election insights.
Recently, Facebook and CNN teamed up to track all of the talk leading up to Election Day. According to the article, “Facebook and CNN Launch Hub for Election Insights,” by Sam Laird, “the tool displays a slick layout of maps, charts and other visualizations to show how many people are talking about president Barack Obama and vice president Joe Biden, as well as republican candidates Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan.” The data is collected and sorted using Facebook Page’s Insights. The analyzed data will be used during CNN broadcasts across the United States.
The information gathered is beneficial for a number of reasons. Since the majority of today’s youth is on Facebook, candidates may be able to reach targeted demographics with engaging posts. They may also gain a better understanding of topics that are important to younger voters.
Although valuable data will be collected, some experts believe it could be skewed. Only time will tell the accuracy. What do you think?
