Meet June, the first-ever computerized smart-oven programmed to “think” like a chef.
The cutting-edge device comes equipped with sensors that detect the type of food you’re preparing, and delivers tailored instructions on how to properly cook it. The smart-oven, June, also features an iPhone-like interface, built-in camera, and a smartphone app that sends you a push notification when your food is ready.
Co-founders Matt Van Horn and Nikhil Bhogal both left their positions at the social media startup Path to pursue the concept. The pair enlisted Robert Brunner, the mastermind behind the design of Apple’s PowerBook, Beats by Dre, and Square, to design the oven.
June is truly a revolutionary piece of technology. As mobile devices continue to get cheaper and add processing power, the sensors present in our smart phones and in the June oven will become prevalent, paving the way for even more advanced products.
