It’s only Day 5 of the Olympics but viewers are already outraged over NBC’s coverage of the summer games. The tape delay of highly anticipated Olympic events has resulted in angry NBC critics who are complaining via social media.
According to David Bauder’s article, “Olympic Viewing: NBC Critics Loud on Social Media,” “#NBCfail” has become a frequently used hashtag and trending topic on Twitter. The high volume of complaints is so serious that senior NBC’s executives have gotten involved in addressing the growing public relations issue. “The conversation is so active that NBC’s executive producer of the games, Jim Bell, took to Twitter to answer critics and even change the way NBC is covering the games.”
Although many are displeased with the coverage, it doesn’t seem to have affected viewership. The opening weekend ratings are the highest ever.
