Any social media outreach is incomplete without follow-up like Twitter web analytics. It’s the only way to know if you’re reaching people in the way you intended and how to adjust your strategy moving forward.
When jumping into the Twitter stream, one of your main goals is to drive traffic to your website, so followers can learn more about your company and services or products. Until now, the figures have been a bit fuzzy when website owners ask how effectively Twitter are helping them accomplish this mission. Twitter has announced Twitter Web Analytics, a tool that helps website owners understand how much traffic they receive from Twitter and the effectiveness of Twitter integrations on their sites. Twitter Web Analytics was driven by the acquisition of BackType, announced in July.
Now in beta with a few users, Twitter Web Analytics promises help publishers and website owners understand three key things:
1. How much of your content is being shared on Twitter.
2. How much traffic Twitter is sending your way.
3. How well Tweet Buttons are performing.
Twitter says the free service will be made available to all users in the next few weeks. Future plans also include an API for developers interested in folding Twitter data into their products.
Keep your eyes peeled for updates on availability on the Twitter’s announcements blog.
