Worrying about low battery may become a thing of the past as tech companies develop ways to charge your electronics without plugging in, so we may never have to charge our phones again.
In his article, “Charging Your Phone Will Soon Be a Thing of the Past,” David Goldman of CNN Money explains how we may never have to charge our phones again because smartphones equipped with a unique receiver can pull energy by converting radio waves into battery power.
One innovative tech company, Energous, utilizes special antennas on the back of your phone to focus cellular and Wi-Fi signals into a pocket of energy. By 2016, they plan to release phone cases that will let you charge your phone from a distance of up to 20 feet. The technology earned Energous two “Best in Show” awards at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
This hardware can be universally built into any device and wireless charging may become standard in the near future.
